9/15/12 Seven Lakes FEN Hike

Every year we head out to Seven Lakes State Park and visit one of their many Fen areas. These Fen areas are unique environments where very specific plants and insects live. Orchids, carnivorous Pitcher plants, and many unique flowers that only grow in this very specific environment. The Massasagua rattle snake also likes the edges of these Fen areas.

We will be meeting at the lower Dickenson Lake parking area at 12pm and taking the short Hike to one of the Fens and examining the life there. Most Fens are a little wet, so having good footwear is a good idea. The little bit of moisture we will encounter is worth what we will experience.
