It’s Up NEXT…..5/5/12 N/C HIKE

April 23, 2012

The Innagural HIKE for the new Hiking North/Central Michigan is our next Hike up on the schedule. We have not scheduled anything with the S.E.MI. group that weekend because we hope many of you members will take the drive up for the day and join us on our first HIKE with the new group. Show & Tell the new group members what HM is all about and how we share out on the Trails.

This first HIKE is on the “Fren Loop Trail” along the Pere Marquette river, near the town of Baldwin. This is near the beginnings of the river and there is some excellent fishing in this area too. We are meeting on Saturday, 5/5/12 at 1pm at the Upper Branch bridge parking area. A National Forest Trailhead parking lot.

Part of our Hike is along the river itslef and the other half weaves a short ways from the river, into an are with 11 different kinds of Ferns. Thus the name of the trail…..the Fern Loop. The area is beautiful in many ways, and we will be taking our time and exploring the Ferns, wild floers and other things we may find along the Trails.

Once we return to our starting point, there will be a Campfire waiting, with some treats and Hot Tea and Chocolate. We can compare some trail notes and possibly discuss some ways to improve and head the new group in the right directions.

I hope you all will come out and join us for our first HIKE with the new North/Central group on 5/5/12.
