Wolcott Mill Fall Colors HIKE

October 24, 2011

This maybe the last of the Fall colors, and we are heading to one of the best places in S.E.Michigan to see what’s left. Wolcott Mill Metro Park has many very old hardwood trees, and consistently produces some of the very best Fall colors around.

We will be starting out on the Mother Earth trail that leads to the Dam and Cliffs area. Then we will head off to trails unknown by our group. We will circle around the river and explore some of the more remote areas at the Park. These areas also have some of the densest hardwood tree stands in the Park as well.

There will be some group decisions to be made as we go. Determining just where and how far we will travel, will be decided upon by the group, out on the trails. There will be a number of places early in the Hike, for those not interested in the longer, more exploratory parts of the Hike, to circle back to the parking area.

The Mill is still open and is always a great experience. So is the Farm learning center. One of the few still working Farms in S.E.MI.  Roam the Farm grounds and critters. It is free with your Parks pass.
