We had a fantastic time on Saturday 7/17/10 at Seven Lakes State Park. Not only did we visit both a Prairie Fen and a Forest Fen, but we decided to do the whole Dickenson Lake trail, around the lake. Although a bit overgrown, there was alot to see and experience. Not to mention Black Berry treats along the way.

The prime time for a Fen is July – September, so things are just getting going there. We will have another random Fen hike later in the season, as things start to bloom and grow.

An excellent group of very knowledgeable people joined in on the hike. It is always a great time when there are so many learned people, willing to share their experience with everyone. Always the best kind of Hike. Especially in a unique setting like a Fen.
