SPRING Flowers

April 16, 2010

Just posted some new pictures of a recent Hike for Spring Flowers on our FLICKR site. Check out the link on the sidebar to view them.

We also revisited the Holland Ponds HERON Rookery. The Herons have decided to start a whole new area of nests. Since there where many new and late arrivals this year, the main colony of nests had all been take. At the back end of the swampy area that contains the main nesting area, a group of 10 new nests are being constructed. This is great news for the Rookery and the hopes in increasing the Heron population. The park is teaming with life right now. Nesting owls, Herons, Egrets and Hawks. Not to mention the turtles, frogs, snakes and critters who are all busy raising their young and feeding on the fresh Spring growths.
